STUDIO TEMA Margit Teikari, Tuuli Trei

A place rich in tradition as well as modernity: the restyling of the Kalev Hotel Spa pays homage on the one hand to the story of Estonia, with the historic centre of Tallinn declared a UNESCO World Heritage, and on the other hand to the verdant Kanuti Park, with its impeccable bushes and vast green spaces.

Conceived by Studio Tema, the intervention of Margit Teikari and Tuuli Trei synthesises the positive convergence of nature and cosmopolitan lifestyle. All 119 elegant interiors, including suites and comfortable rooms, the exclusive spa area and sports centre with a spacious 50 m pool, make for a relaxing and exclusive stay.

All the materials selected for finishings and furniture reflect the requested standards, in terms of aesthetics, quality and performance. For example, the Waterfall collection by Lea Ceramiche has been selected for cladding, a faithful reinterpretation of a natural stone like slate, recreated through a highly realistic effect. Waterfall coats the surfaces in various areas, adding naturalness and elegance. In the Spa area, the alternation of two colours, Dark Flow and Ivory Flow, creates a pleasant contrast, enhanced on shower walls by the special Gramma sizes, for a high-impact graphic effect. In the Lounge area, the combination of different sizes exalts the subtle intense black nuances on the floor, for an elegant yet relaxed ambience. From the “lappata” version, which is pleasing to the touch due to its silkiness, we move onto the more structured finishing that guarantees greater grip, especially for poolside areas. In addition to its aesthetic and practical properties, Waterfall is also a sustainable material, conceived and manufactured in an environmentally friendly way. With Protect®, the silver-based technology, it guarantees absolute protection against all bacteria and it is capable of acting continuously, even in conditions of scarce lighting.
